THE ERIE TOOL WORKS-A Division of Lakeview Forge

Secondary operations are provided through our own division, The Erie Tool Works.  They include machining, heat treating, and non-destructive  testing.

Machining

Whether your needs require the high volume efficiency of a multiple spindle chucking machine or the close tolerance accuracy of a CNC lathe, we can provide the machining to match your application.

More importantly, our dedication to 'first time-every time' quality production is what sets us apart from our competition. Our CNC proprietary threading procedure insures close tolerance and consistent quality in every piece. Lakeview specializes in close tolerance O.D. threading, holding +/- .0004 on pitch diameter on material up to 48 Rockwell C.  This system guarantees adherence to customer specs.  Automatic thread deburring completes this process.  SPC inspection is available upon request. 

Heat Treating (click for more specific information)

The heat treating process hardens and tempers steel to a desired tensile strength in order to provide maximum toughness and durability. Our furnaces are atmosphere-controlled and certified for heat treating those parts which must meet exacting military specifications.

In addition, we can provide many other functions such as

  • annealing - promotes machinability
  • normalizing - insures consistent structure
  • shot blast cleaning - removes forge scale and oxidation
  • furnace brazing - for silver soldering non-ferrous metals
  • Rockwell and Brinnel hardness testing - checks hardness requirements

Nondestructive Testing

Erie Tool Works employs a variety of technical equipment in order to provide a wide range of tests from simple calibration to magnetic particle inspection, which can detect defects not visible to the eye. Our inspection methods are matched to our customers' parameters, whether they are general industrial requirements or stringent government standards.   Lakeview Forge Company, Erie Tool Works Division is a Lockheed Martin approved supplier for Magnetic Particle Inspection to ASTM E1444. 

Furthermore, our ability to perform in-line testing enables us to transform rough forgings, and bar stock into finished parts with 'designed-in quality'. This saves our customers time and money, and eliminates the need for multi-source approval.
